frequently asked questions

What should my child wear to their swimming lesson?

For mainstream lessons (4–7pm), swimmers must wear a swim cap and goggles.

Swim caps keep hair out of the eyes, and goggles fit more securely so children can focus and get the most out of their lesson.

For babies, a double‑nappy system is required:

• A disposable swim nappy

• A Happy Nappy worn over the top

This prevents accidents and keeps the pool safe for everyone.

Do parents need to be in the water?

Babies: Yes — parents must accompany babies in the pool.

• Up to 3 years old: Yes — at this age, children benefit from close support, reassurance and hands‑on guidance.

• From 3+ years: We begin transitioning parents out when children show readiness and confidence.

• Mainstream lessons (4yrs+): No parents in the water.

Do you use armbands?

We don’t use armbands.

Instead, we use swim biscuits to build confidence, encourage correct body position, strengthen core stability and support independent movement.

Biscuits allow us to gradually reduce support as each child becomes ready, helping them develop genuine water confidence rather than relying on flotation aids.

What age can my baby start swimming?

We swim from birth.

Introducing your baby to water early through gentle, positive experiences supports bonding, sensory development and a lifelong love of swimming.

As your baby grows, age‑appropriate sessions encourage movement, confidence and familiarity with water.

Every baby develops at their own pace, so we focus on making each experience safe, enjoyable and pressure‑free.

What do you teach adults?

Adult lessons are 1‑to‑1, tailored entirely to the swimmer’s ability and goals.

We teach:

• Complete beginners building confidence

• Adults returning to swimming

• Stroke and technique development

• Efficiency training for fitness or competition

Each session is personalised to help adults feel comfortable, capable and confident in the water.

What if my child is nervous?

Lots of children feel unsure at first, and that’s completely normal.

Our teachers specialise in gentle, confidence‑building approaches that help children settle in quickly.

We never rush — every swimmer progresses at their own pace.
